A deck estimate tool your homeowners can use before they call

Deck estimating software usually lives on the builder's laptop. QuoteDecking puts the first estimate in front of the homeowner instead: they trace the deck on a satellite map, answer the questions that drive cost, and see a ballpark range from your own rates in about two minutes.

Two kinds of deck estimating software

There are tools for the builder, like takeoff and design software that turns a full plan into a material list and a bid. And there are tools for the homeowner, which give a first number before anyone visits. QuoteDecking is the second kind. It is not a design or framing tool, and it doesn't replace your site visit or your final bid. It handles the step before that: getting a realistic number in front of the homeowner and getting you a lead with the details you need.

What the estimate is built from

The estimate uses the same inputs you would ask about on the phone, and your own price for each one:

InputWhere it comes fromHow it is priced
Deck sizeCorners tapped on a satellite photo, or a typed sizeYour rate per sq ft for the chosen material and height
Height4 levels or "not sure"Separate rates per level; "not sure" uses an average with a wider range
RailingSides marked as railing in the drawingPer foot by railing style, required from the height you choose
StairsSides marked as stairs, step count from heightPer step, plus a landing at the walkout level
Replacement"Replace my old deck"Tear-out per sq ft
ExtrasCheckboxes you set upFlat or per sq ft
Small jobsAutomaticYour minimum job price

The result is shown as a range around the total. You choose how wide that range is on Pro, and you can also show an exact number or hide the price and send it yourself.

Why the drawing matters

Typed dimensions work for rectangles. Real decks wrap around corners, sit against part of the house, and have stairs on one side. When the homeowner draws the shape on their own yard and marks each side, the square feet, railing feet and stair locations all come from one drawing. You see that summary in the lead, so your first call starts with facts instead of guesses.

If the yard is hard to see, the homeowner can type a size instead, or tap a side and type its exact length.

How it works for the homeowner

  1. Address. They start typing their address and pick it from the suggestions, or tap "Use my location".
  2. Draw. They tap the corners of the deck on a satellite photo of their own yard. Square feet update live. They can tap a side to type its exact length, or skip the map and type a size.
  3. Mark the sides. Each side is marked house, railing, stairs or open, so railing feet and stair locations come from the drawing.
  4. Height. They pick one of 4 height levels, or "not sure". Stairs are suggested from the height, and railing is required from the height you choose.
  5. Materials. They see Good, Better and Best decking (pressure-treated, composite, PVC), pick a railing style and any extras.
  6. Price. They leave their name and email and see a ballpark range right away. You get an email alert with the drawing summary and the estimate.

What it does not do yet: there is no CRM integration, no service-area map, no webhooks and no measuring from photos. Leads arrive by email and in your dashboard, and you can export them to CSV.

Frequently asked questions

Is this deck design software?

No. QuoteDecking measures and prices the deck from the homeowner's drawing and answers. Design, framing plans and permits stay in the tools you already use.

How accurate is the estimate?

It is a ballpark range, based on the drawing and your own prices. The homeowner is told it is not a quote, and the final price is set after your site visit.

What if the homeowner doesn't know the height?

They can pick "not sure". The estimate then uses an average of your height levels with a wider range, and you confirm on site.

Can I hide the price and send it myself?

Yes, on Pro. You can show a range, an exact number, or hide the price. Pro can also mark a height level as "quote on request".

Can homeowners send photos?

Yes. They can add up to 3 photos of the yard, and the photo links come with the lead.
